Ameraucana Projects Thread

Would these cockerels be good for someone to use as a start for a cuckoo Am. project? Their dad is a blue Am. and mom is a hatchery cuckoo Marans (does not lay dark eggs).

Start where you are with what you have is good advice . So yes . Keep breeding to Ameraucana for 2-3 more generations to fix Ameraucana traits . Then breed them together and cull off traits that popup .

We're putting our blue ameraucana hen with a pure lavender orpington too.
I'm looking into the genetics of that mix.
Just looking for opinions, trying to make more interesting blue toned chickens for our flock.

Hatched my first LAVENDER WHEATEN last week!! So excited about this project. Hoping to hatch 8-10 this year (which means hatching 100-150 F1 eggs!) and select the best for breeding next year. I'll also be starting a completely unrelated line this year. :)

Blue and lavender should Not be crossed, lavender is rescesive and blue is dominant so if you cross them all you will get is blues anb blacks all split for lavender breed those together and you won't be able to distinguish between the lavenders and the blues very well there are more problems but this is just off the top of my head

Well we'll do one hatch just to see, if we don't like we'll sell as Easter egger.
Both the lab orp and blue girl are in with our wheaten colored fellow (we call him Easter egger)

We're looking to pit our blue ameraucana with a roo to keep the blue. But until then...we will see. She lays a sweet blue egg.

my LF wheaten ameraucana x bantam buff laced white cornish pullet (in with my pet quality wheaten am roo who comes from a line of nice blue eggs) laid her first three eggs this week! they were as big as my LF blue wheaten ameraucanas egg and lucky for me the blue wheaten hen also laid an egg and my silkie cross is conveniently broody... This is the beginings of my white wheaten ameraucana project
