Ameraucana Projects Thread

I should have my run complete tomorrow and will be putting 4 silver ameraucana hens in with my crele penedesenca rooster.
Working on more of a crele olive egger project as opposed to a crele ameraucana project but my goal is a bearded and muffed crele bird
that has the higher penedesenca tail set and pea comb. The crele penedesenca lays the lightest color egg of the penedesenca family so generally the olive eggers
from them are more of a lighter olive egg

Blue Silver project... the only bird I kept from 2013, will breed back to Silver this coming season and see what happens. Anyone else working on these?

I am also working on blue silver. I will have to take some pics. I used blue wheaten to bring in blue. Looks like you used blue.

Here is a project oddity. Came out of some buff. She is 2 years old now. Finally figured out what could be done to produce something similar. She carries dominant white so the white areas would be black without the white. She could be bred to brown red to produce a red pyle version of brown red. No name for that not that I have found. So no matter which way you go a new name is in order. This is one of those projects that may go nowhere It would be nice to have another color in the brown red family. Of course there is birchen that I have tinkered with.

Red Pyle would be lovely.

Here is another color oddity. The cockerel is not splash but has barring and the erminett gene. Very light slate legs. Erminett dilutes slate legs to white or very light slate. 2 copies of Erminett gives a white bird with white legs. I found erminett in some araucana cockerels sold to me as splash. They did not breed as splash. Took me 2 years to figure out what it was. The araucana breeders were calling it splash blue cuckoo. Another oddity that has little future except EE.

Here is a cockerel whose mother was a buff ameraucana and father a cuckoo project. My goal is lemon cuckoo. I will breed back to buff this year. I hope to produce buff sex link pullets in time. My thinking is that a white head spot will be visible on a yellow chick. Lemon cuckoo will have leg color issues so may never make it as a ameraucana variety. But buff pullets would not have the leg color issue. I really like sex link and auto sexing. Such useful traits.
