Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I agree with jeremy. I was just about to say that these are breeders who have worked with a lot of stock and have worked very hard to make quality stock. We wouldn't have judges if it weren't for these breeders. With chickens (and with everything in general) my policy is to be open-minded and consider others' advice because that advice could be very valuable. Except when it comes to naked necks. I just can't seem to look at them without making a

I'm excited to say I've finally got more Buffs in the incubator, this time, I'll stop at nothing to keep 'em alive and healthy

The cat is gone, so hopefully, no more deaths.

Ditto to the earlier comment on eating Ameraucanas - They're honestly the ONLY breed I haven't tried that I've had here for a while, probably because they never feel like they'd be much. And when I do cull them for dog-food, they just don't look like much. I'll definitely say my smaller Araucanas pack more muscle than the Ameraucanas. And it tastes good!!

Seriously though, on the EM Squared Issue. . . . It's kinda sad that they won't just wait to hear form a Judge (good call on PM'ing Walt!

) But I really, really have to ask in case EM Squared is still reading here. . . We're trying to help you, so why deny the truth? It's everywhere, and it's not a horrible thing or an insult. I once had and still do have Easter Eggers, and learned the difference, and, if you're not trusting breeders (many of us who've shown and bred for several years) - Then what's to say you trust yourself? I haven't heard back on the leg color of your birds? And, not all "judges" are APA certified. I'm just saying, we're not "against you," we just want to inform you. An APA judge would do the same thing.

We're not meaning to scare away, we're just meaning to fix the misinformation. It's no one at fault but your supplying hatchery, they're the ones to get upset with for false sale. And yes, a chicken is still a chicken. One of my most beautiful roosters right now is an Easter Egger, and I'm certainly not pegging him below my purebreds. My Araucana crosses make the best dual purpose hybrids.
