Utah has a poultry club and they put on one or two shows a year sand if you are close to CO they have them too. Generally very good birds and more large fowl than many other shows.

Here is a link to the Utah club. http://www.utahfancypoultry.org/ They have a show coming up the end of October.

Wow, had no idea..thanks...now, if I can make it. I just got "the" call from my neuro that I've been waiting for. Need a fusion in my neck.

We weren't quite sure, was waiting for results, now for the fun. I am going to Bookmark your post. Has some info on it that I can look at. Thanks again!
Hey, Farmington isn't that far from us, just up north about an hr. and a half drive. I wonder if it's in the big Amusement Park..Lagoon.

I have 2 Lavenders, 1 black and 1 blue pullet with a black roo over them (Paul Smith birds shipped in April 2011). At least 2 have started laying. I think one lavender and 1 other - I think it's the blue. I have blue eggs and a blue tinged with green egg (lavender I'm thinking) but can't be sure at this point. My question is the eggs seem small which I know is how pullets eggs start but when do they start to enlarge and when should I start worrying about the size if they don't - they've been laying about a week now. My Marans started smaller but sized up nicely. The eggs this week so far are a tad larger but I'm starting to get concerned that they seem to still be so small almost like bantam eggs (of which I've only seen once before). My first black Ameraucana hen laid some humungous eggs!! So perhaps I'm spoilt? When she molted her eggs did start over really tiny then got bigger in short time. She was rehomed this summer as she and her hatch mate had color bleed issues. Can't send pics right now but will try to get some tomorrow or Friday next time they lay. (gave away all todays and yesterdays eggs to a friend)
Thanks.

Patience, Grasshopper....One of my birds took almost 2 months to lay a "real" sized egg. (She wasn' t laying daily) Every bird is on their own schedule and won't be rushed to do anything they are not ready or willing to do.

One of my LF lavenders lays itty bitty bantam sized eggs all the time. I have hatched plenty of them and they are always full sized chicks. I don't know how they can mature in such a tiny egg, but they do! She has good egg color and type though, so hopefully her daughters will lay normal sized eggs.

Happy Mtn and Chippendales I guess either of those scenarios could be workable for me but...I reallly miss those jumbo sized blue eggs. I LOVE one of my lavendes soooooo much. She is so sweet and is the only one that will patiently stoop and let my 2 year old pet her and pick her up. She is a doll so I was hoping to breed her forward...I will take a wait and see attitude from here on in...

Since you looked at thee comb....what kind of comb is that? It looks like a rosecomb in a couple of the pictures.

Walt

I've seen that in some lavender splits, where it's still a pea comb, it's just funky and narrow at the top...

this is a rosecomb (sebright female)

This is the pic posted of the AM.

It is only a picture, but that looks like a strange comb. Sorry for the late post, but I was looking for a comparison picture. This bird looks like it has a wider area in the front and then goes down to a point at the rear of the comb. In any event an AM needs to have three distinct rows in the comb.....even if it is a female

Walt

Right, but that wider area is just where the nasal cavity is. It's not actually the comb you're looking at. Maybe it's just me but it looks common. . . . Especially on pullets who've yet to lay.
