Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hi guys.
I posted this as a general question before I found this thread of Ameraucana experts, so I'll try again

What would I get if I crossed a Black-lavender Split roo with any of my BBS girls?

You would get BBS chicks unless your hens are also split to lavender. It would be just like breeding them to a black rooster.

I don't think you'll know with splash until they are at least 6 weeks old.

So if you get roos, you breed them to LF black hens and if you get pullets you breed them to a LF Black roo. You'll get blues that you will breed to one another (or back to the silkied parents) and see how many come out silkied.

I've heard some say they can feather sex them.

Is it the females that grow out the feathers earlier than males? If so, I think I have 2 females and 1 male. Just a wild guess.

So, I need to get black ameracaunas ? What about others also? I'm up for lavender, and have a partner in crime for those!

He;s got some gold "bleeding" thru on the neck. Does that come thru to the next generation?

Yours are splash, You could breed them with any B/B/S but most use black with splash to get blue.

Once you have BBS silkied Ameraucanas, the hatching eggs will sell VERY WELL and at a PREMIUM price.... and folks thought that Marans eggs were expensive.

I've been told that it does. From what I have seen- it shows up more in males.
