pips&peeps :

He should be doing his job by now. Have you tested alot of the eggs?

How many hens is he with?

He's been in with 12 girls for almost 2 months. I had to wait because I had a sussex roo in there before. I put 2 days worth- maybe 20 eggs- in the incubator. None from that coop look fertile. My wellies are all developing though. The only other issue would be that their coop is not heated, and the wellie coop has a lamp. Maybe the eggs got too cold?

Also- he does not crow. He's the same size as my wheaten roo- but his tail isn't as long yet.

I wish he'd get down to business- the cochins are pulling out their belly feathers! It's getting to be that time again

Don't be too quick to forgive.....

They lost two batches of chicks on Tuesday that I shipped; they showed up this morning. And, it was very hard on the babies.......

Oh, I hope they are ok! You know, you'd think with what we pay to ship live animals that they could be a little more careful not to LOSE them!!!

I'm either going to give away or eat a really nice looking wheaton roo hatched from an egg from pasofinofarms ... if'n he don't straighten up ...

Is he just a hormonal JERK right now?? Or can I expect this from him from now on??

5-months .. challenging me .. being REALLY aggressive with his two girls. ...

I'd kinda like to chop his little head off ...

Hey, y'all!

Just a heads up- I'm selling that black ameraucana cockerel that I posted pictures of last week. He and the main roo are not getting along as well and I think it is time to find him a home where he can be head roo. Check out the listing under BST!

thanks!

We ate a lot of roosters at right about that age before I read in a book that roos go through a hormonal peek towards the end of their first year that last a few months and then usually they settle into their more permanent temperament. If he's otherwise a good usable guy, it may be worth it to give him some time to CHILL.
