Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Mine looks very similar as well. I have two EEs that are very similar in plumage. One lays a blue-green egg and one lays an almost olive-green egg. They are great birds.

No- you'll get some that are nearly white on occasion. As long as they don't have stripes! Some will have a tiny black dot on their heads that is supposedly a sign of good tail color.
O thats good to know. I have one with a dot on its head I thought it may have been a fence climbing rooster over here.

Here is a tip that may be usefull to some of you.I often use setting hens this time of year for small hatches. Not all broody hens can be moved. Some will quit if moved.I sometimes put incubator chicks under broody hens at night.By morning they have bonded and take care of them.Adding new chicks to a hen with chicks is risky as some hens will kill any new chicks.I love hen raised chicks. It is nice to watch a hen care for chicks.Move the hen to a cage or brooder at night then add the chicks.

I have some chicks that are three weeks old that are with their momma still. I have never done broody hatches before this. It is super cute to watch the mom and babies. I love how she talks to them. What a new fun experience for us!
