Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

My 2 newest additions. I love them both, but I really love the one on the left.

Finally caught the cockerel in question.Spangling not lacing.Nice large frame.I will move him to the EE pen for further observation. If I remember corectly spangling and mottling are the same gene.

I have a question, at what age do AM roos become infertile? I have had my roo and hen togeather now for about a month, and in that time have set 3 sets of eggs, none of which developed ANYTHING so I am assuming they were not fetilized, I was going to set one mr to find out before I started shopping for a nother roo, just to be sure. But then my girl started molting so more eggs, is it possible that because she was about to molt that the eggs werent fertilezed? I am kind of sad, because I wanted to grow out some chicks for a good solid spring flock. So now I am in the market for hatching eggs, but broke at the same time......anone willing to maybe....perhaps trade some eggs for a coustome portarate of the chicken or roo of their choice? or maybe cut me a little break on some eggs for one? They are blue/black if it makes any difference?

Sometimes excess fluff around the vent area on a hen or rooster gets in the way and prevents fertilization.Trimming these feathers can help.Usually not a problem on ameraucanas.
