She is not a pure breed ameraucana, even if it is not your bird. The bird in the picture is an easter egger.im sorry she is a americana and she is not an ee A. because this is not my bird its a pure breed americana from online and B. mine looks the exactly the same![]()

She is an EE... I have had several that look just like her. People often sell EE as Ameraucanas some know they are not, some don't. Ameraucanas only come in certain colors and she is not one of those colors. Even if she is PURE breed because of her coloring she is an EE. EMBRACE your EE they are great birds. Most of us on this thread have both.im sorry she is a americana and she is not an ee A. because this is not my bird its a pure breed americana from online and B. mine looks the exactly the same![]()

Well, black birchen isn't a recognized color for the Am breed, so yes, that would probably qualify her as an easter egger, not an Am. It's not just the hatcheries that sell EEs as Ameraucana, lots of people breed EEs and call them Am's because either they haven't taken the time to educate themselves or they are deliberately trying to get one over on people because Ameraucanas are more rare and thus more 'valuable'. I have both EEs and an Am, and I love both. I can say though that 9 times out of 10 EEs will lay much more often than Ams so I don't see the big deal over some people not liking EEs, they are wonderful birds, the friendliest in my flock in fact. I CAN understand true Am breeders getting upset over a sub par breeder passing off EEs as Ams though. Would love to see some pics!I have a pullet that I purchased from a local breeder as an Ameraucana, but she has feathered in with a black birchen pattern. That means she's really an EE, right? I also have a lavender from the same breeder. (Sorry, no pic yet)
EE. Just because you read something online, doesn't make it true. Please refer to this site. there will be pictures of the accepted AmerAUcana varieties. Also, leg color should be slate or black, not green/willow as in your picture.im sorry she is a americana and she is not an ee A. because this is not my bird its a pure breed americana from online and B. mine looks the exactly the same![]()

I didn't see where anyone responded to your post...I wish I could offer a critique, but I'm pretty new to Ameraucanas. I have been reading as much as I can and culling my own birds for what I know to be major faults, but I'm still learning. Maybe once I get my SOP in I can offer more. I hope that some of the experienced people on this thread will chime in because it would really help me as well!
