Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Umm idk I was just told that is a female sex linked
Silver and gold are sex linked colors. The only striped chicks in pure ameraucana are silver. There is a way to tell on pure silvers but it has to do with the eye stripe and the back stripes.Forget how it goes.Crele is autosexing but not a ameraucana color. Some have talked about it but none yet.Watch the breast color as she grows.Any black feathers in the breast = male.Female breast color salmon.

Feedstore chicks are usually EE no matter what they believe. She may be sex linked.Hatcheries use sex linked in layers. As a plus these hatchery birds are usually excellent layers.Did not know of any hatchery doing sex linked EE or ameraucana.Things do change.

As long as its a girl, it lays good amount of eggs when it grows up I could care less of the breed I just tought it was amerucana

I have a friend who has a solitary Brown-Red bantam cock and is looking for brown-red bantam hatching eggs. Does anyone have any available or know anybody? He said he had gone through the breeder page with no luck. He had this cock at the swap yesterday and I am trying to help him so he can continue with this color variety.

Fell free to PM me if you have any leads.

If anyone has crossed Brown-red to Black, did you then breed the offspring to the Brown red parent or breed the offspring back together?

Clare
Yes brown red to black back to brown red works.I have done it.I only have a trio this year but may be able to help your friend.
