Those are all EEs. No correct colors.

My fear. Now do I have any recourse against the breeder? How an I prove that they're not true Ameraucanas? Is it even worth the hassle?

I don't know. You can contact them and tell them that none of the birds are the accepted Ameraucana colors - and by the ABC's own standards breeding together two different colors is not accepted, and see what they say. If you got them from an breeder listed on the ABC website I would contact the club as well. Those chicks don't even look close to what the accepted colors are. Maybe they will refund the difference between AMs and EEs? You did get healthy chicks - just not what you paid extra for. Maybe they sent you the wrong chicks too? I haven't seen an EE with the coloring of the center one - interesting pattern...

Unfortunately there will always be some people out there who want to make a quick buck from selling "purebred" birds without taking the time to research what is accepted for the breed and what is not. If they are selling "purebreds" they need to make sure they follow the rules. If they mix colors in AM breeding then, by AM's own rules, they aren't considered to be AMs - they are EEs. There are projects out there for different colors - but hopefully none of the breeders are selling project birds as AMs... except for the Lavenders who are hopefully getting close to being accepted. Most Lav breeders do make it clear they are not an accepted color though.

I just came across a breeder, while checking out their website, that is using pictures taken off of another person's Ebay auction on their own website

I have notified the owner of the pictures. What the heck is wrong with people?!! It just says to me that person is dishonest and I would never buy anything from them!!

thanks for that heads up too. I will be checking into it. ALL of my pics are copyright protected so any use without my permission , well....

The problem with photos is that once it is on the internet anyone can copy it. I started to "watermark" photos that are important to me when someone on this thread used my pictures to sell W/BW ameraucanas on their website. The irony was that the pictures were olive egger chicks that looked like W/BWA chicks.

Eek, and while I hate to post amidst all the picture turmoil...

I'm really curious as to the variation within the breed standards for Ameraucanas and what's considered acceptable.

For example:
dark blue feather color • light blue feather color
andalusian lacing on feathers • no lacing on feathers
black legs • dark wash slate • slate • bright blue legs

This list looks like this because I have BBS Ameraucanas; I'm also interested in your thoughts on other colors and their specific accepted variations. I understand that each breeder prefers certain traits over others, but how do you accentuate certain traits while still staying within the APA standard?
