Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Ok i saw your ad and bloodlines(very good) . Are you in Tennesee ? I'm in south Alabama - do you have a shipping box ? i have several . Wish i could get a chick box . Hope they are real healthy as it takes a lot out of chicks that age to ship .
How long will it be before you will be sure about the pullets .
Thanks ,
Shannon

I have 2 pairs for sale in the chicks BST section. The roos are wheaten, not 100% on the females yet.

I have a question regarding egg color. When I look at the pictures people post I have a hard time seeing if the egg is truly blue or if its more of a green. I've heard people say they have a blue egg, only to see the eggs and think to myself..ummm that looks green to me.

Am I correct in thinking that a green egg is a disqualifier for an Ameraucana? How do you tell by looking at a picture what the true color is? If I were going to take pictures of eggs myself, is there any way to show the color is acurate such as having a white card in the picture?

They just sold to the first bidder, JamesA. Going to cancel the ad. If you want chicks shipped- I'd go with Pips&Peeps. You're bound to end up with some really nice birds- and she is experienced in the shipping department.

The Ameraucana Breeders Club color chart shows colors that range from what I would call grey to green to blue with all shades in between. Some of it also is in the eye of the beholder. What I call green others call blue.

I believe though that ameraucanas are judged on form and standard and not on egg color.

The more I look at my Ameraucana eggs, the more confused I get sometimes. I think they look more aqua then blue or green. When I start getting cross eyed thinking you know, these eggs really look more green then blue, I go get one of my EE eggs...which are truly green....and the color difference is obvious then.

It's almost here, ship date for chicks from Blehm, and really, I don't care much what color they are. I can get some blueberries to eat them with if they are not blue enough
