Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Well it is a little early to say much. They appear to be well bred. The cockerel has black in the hackles.Which is not wanted but a common problem.Let them grow some and check back with pics.
Ok..thanks for the response. Columbia Fair entries close next week, so I'm just wondering who to take. I think I'll just take all of them and let it be whatever it will be. :)

Here is the cockerel I am thinking of keeping. Comments, please! If he is good enough, I'll show him. He was hatched April 1. Pictures taken today, August 6.

I don't know anything about show quality chickens, but he came from a very reputable breeder (Paul Smith).

Thanks for your comments.

Looks like he is getting his adult feathers.Good type,no color leakage. Not showing much lacing but that is a common problem with blue.
Show him.Paul has really good birds

Has anyone ordered Ameraucanas from Meyer? I ordered a small order of 3 chicks, 1 blue Ameraucana pullet and two Blue Copper Marans pullets. My friend pointed out the rooster they have pictured. He has light legs, wattles and no beard or muffs! They claim this is full blooded ameraucanas, I sure hope that's not the rooster they are using. I will be ******. I guess I should have looked at the roo, too.

You will get easter eggers from most large hatcheries no matter what they say.I have no experience with Meyer.

Ok, so i found a customer service rep on a blog, went to her website and called her. She said that rooster was culled a long time ago. She said when the pic was taken, there was no flock master and a hired photographer took that pic.she said, shoot, he doesnt even have muffs or a beard! The photo made it to print and hasent been changed because of the expenses it takes to redo the catalog.
