I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this roo? He was hatched form eggs identified as as pure blue Wheaton americauna eggs as sold by a member of BYC.

I have never seen this before, but I have heard of it. Anyone ever had an Ameraucana rooster grow more than one set of spurs?

This Blue guy with lots of gold leakage is a little over 1 year and just started growing a second set of spurs just under his first set (which are too long and sharp for my comfort).

Yes! He appears to be a pure Blue-Wheaten Ameraucana roo!

Ah, I think I just got it, the multiple spurs are a throwback from when Sumatra was mixed into the lines--for better blue coloring?

Oh gosh, so my ladies still aren't laying (22 weeks) but I put out about a pound of oyster shell for them just in case and they devoured it within a few days. It's not going to hurt them to eat it if they're not laying yet will it? Everything I'd read says they only eat it if they need to, but I'm worried they think it's a new kind of treat!
