Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

The dark legs are a good thing on my white rooster right?

I'm not going to be using him with any Ameraucana hens, I'll be using him on some cross breed hens I've been working on. They have all been white birds so far and part of the project was to introduce the blue egg laying gene and hatching this white roo from my wheaten birds just seemed to perfect. So I'm hoping to keep the white plumage going in the flock by adding this guys genes to the mix. I won't be selling any of his offspring, so I might as well give it a try.

you are correct Jean. his legs are visibly lighter than normal for my birds.
There is a similar thing with some Buford Bronze peafowl, they turn white and go blind.
I have checked this birds eye color and it is normal, and his vision seems fine.
I also considered the fact he may be sterile.... guess I will find out in the spring.

I just wanted to show off my pretty boy Paris (my daughter named him and his girlfriend whose name is Helen). I have no idea what color you'd call him the guy I bought him from was doing a number of color projects.

He would be considered an easter egger.

What color is he? My guess is a Wheaton with gold leakage. Am I even close?

Just to be clear, I am asking about the bird pictured above. I thought Pips&Peeps was commenting on that bird, but might not have been.

I'm excited to see what any results of breeding show. Please keep us updated on your strange rooster!
