Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Can someone tell me if this is a rooster or a layer im not sure it makes noise more than my other chickens so im seeing if its a rooster. Or its a chicken who likes to talk

Its a rooster - and it is not an Ameraucana. Start a post in the "what breed is this" section and maybe somebody can guess what he is.

I was wondering, my Ameraucana roo has some gold leakage on his back by his tail and some on his neck ( I'll post pictures later this week if that okay) is he still considered a Ameraucana?

Hi guys. I have not been on BYC for most of the summer. Now that life has calmed down I thought I'd check in.

I wanted to share a little project Im going to be working on. This is one of my wheaten roosters, that has become mottled at age 2-3 years old......




This is what he looked like last year.....

Wow! Pretty boy! I don't think I have seen one like that before. The one I am trying to rehome has some similarities, but not nearly as unique.

But my Roo is not an Ameraucana...he is an EE. I did get 2 new grils that are Ameraucana's though! Here are the new girls

I have only been doing this for a few months so by no means am I an expert but I have read much about my birds and my EE's look a lot like yours, a white and orange (on left) and a white and black sussex/EE mix (on the right). Did someone tell you they were AM's? They don't look like the ones I read about. Just sayin...

Yes....I bought them from someone here on BYC. That picture is not great and I had the colors wrong. I just brought them home yesterday and it is cold and drizzly
out so they were not posing very well.

That 1st bird might be a buff but she's not a blue wheatan.
That 2nd pic they look similar to my splash & blue wheatans.

O and when you cross two colors that doesnt give you another pure color, they technically are EEs.
