Yes the last chick is distinctly yellow compared to the others. I was wondering if that correlated with color. Now i'm just hoping for girls! Thank you for your thoughts.

The one with the narrow comb in the first two pictures? Does a single come mean it looks like a boy, or is a single comb just not desirable? I don't mind a single comb if it just means she's not 'perfect.'
Well I have finally hatched chicks from my Split Lav birds. The first 2 were blacks, but the second hatch had 5 Lavender chicks & 7 Blacks.
They are all from Harry Shaffer, the cock is the one that I posted pics of that has the strange Mottling on him. I have talked to others, who have Split lav birds and was told that as thier birds aged and molted that that color was replaced with solid black. So time will tell! But anyway I have beautiful new chicks who have come from outstandingly BLUE eggs!
I will try to get some, but the hens are a little raggedy, due to the amorous roos. I have aprons on some of them. And one has been setting and setting and setting....
So far I have 12 babies in the brooder from Jeans eggs. 4 Lavs and 8 blacks (or splits). 1 more zipping in the incubator, a bit of a slow poke. Not bad from 18 eggs shipped clear across the country!
Chicken Stalker one of your chickies couldn't stand the eggcitement of Jeans chicks hatching. He decided to hatch yesterday night while still in the egg turner! They aren't due until tomorrow! So I had to cram them in the hatcher too, in case of any other early arrivals....Sheesh.
