Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

His post really ticked me off. What practical person buys those fancy coops? Someone like Angelina Jolie would have a coop like that with bling on her hatchery birds. OMG. What a twit.

. Ok now I got to go read it to see what he said. On thing that makes me mad about a lot of those fancy coops is it will be a tiny coop with a run in about equal size and it say for 4-6 chickens- ok

That article was ridiculous. I could buy eggs from the grocery store too, but I don't. Did he ever think maybe people raise chickens for more than just eggs? I could go own, but no one wants to hear my comments on some dumb, inaccurate article. I got a picture of a bantam AM egg that I will post later

Thank you for
Paul and Angela Smith ships chicks. I'm waiting for an order this month. Email him at psmith AT ntin.net ... just eliminate the spaces and use @. I don't know if he has met his quota of orders yet or not. Beautiful Am's from one of the top breeders of them.

Thank you for the information! I write to them. Hopefully I can get a few.

Babies!!! Finally some sweet little peeps from our brown reds.

My hatch rates are terrible (5/21 for the Amers, 4/5 for Marans). I think the "dry incubation" we tried was a little too dry, perhaps. Was hoping more would make an appearance today, but looks like they might be done.

So glad to have these little guys, though!

I just got 14 chicks yesterday. they are suppose to be Americana's. Most all have fluffy cheeks. How do I know if they are the kind with low cholesterol eggs. I got them from the feed store. They were in a water trough and did not have good bedding they have a lot of gunk on them can I give them a bath? Never had chicks before
