Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

My first chickens were from Meyer hatchery, who called them EE's, not Ameraucanas. I got three of them. Two have tufted cheeks and lay mint and olive eggs. The third has no tufted cheeks and she lays pink eggs.

Pink eggs add a nice touch, I miss my Orp. It sounds like you are discribing my girls to a T, except my girls have yet to start laying!!! In Feb I added some Meyer birds to my flock, three of which were more EE's. I named them Scarrlett, Melinie, and Ashley (I was convinced the bigger non tuffted one was a roo which would have been perfect

). They are close to lay and I adore them, Melinie and Ashley are rather stand-offish, but Scarlett is a fearless chicken!!!!

I just got my first Ameraucanas; a black (Kali) & a blue (Rana). They just finished their quarantine this past Saturday & are now in the "flock integration" process. Yesterday they spent the first time really free ranging. They are so sweet (& pretty). Now that my BCM hatched 2 more EE pullets & 1 OE pullet (EE roo x EE and BCM) the AMs should round out my egg color palette when they start laying (I'm into pretty birds & egg color vs. show birds ;))

Thank you for the info! They we r from a local breeder. She has won 1st place ribbon on her roos the last few yrs. These and blue splash. They were beautiful. The two look identical. One just starts getting some burnt orange, rusty looking feathers on its back.

Looks Blue Wheaten to me, darker over all coloring, tail set, and hackle color

Is this the same bird as above? This one looks Wheaten cockerel to me. Darker (black) feathers coming in

Thinking Blue Wheaten pullet, soft color and soft blue edging.

At this age they look true, correct leg color, correct overall color for their age. Can't see any of their combs. Pea comb on boys should be pinking up and have three rows of "Peas", girls will be pale and have one row of peas.

Where you got them ie did you buy from a breeder? or a hatchery or a feed/farm store?

Time will give you a better idea if they are correct or not! Right now they look to be Ameraucana to me in the color category of Wheaten/Blue Wheaten

More shots of combs? They must have beard and muff also.
Hope this helps?

Hi everybody! I hatched some project color eggs this spring and have an oddity Id like some opinions on! This is a Lav Cuckoo Am from Faykokowv. Her head is feathering in CURLY! The only other I hatched has normal feathers and the rest of this pullet's (I think anyways) feathers are smooth. Is this just a stage and she should finish out smooth?

My guess is a mutation . Could be frizzled only the head . Keep us posted . I am curious to she what happens .

My Blue Wheaten chicks are almost 5 months old, and it is complete delight to have these gentle, sweet birds. All the birds pictured were bred and hatched by: "Chickee".

I think they are beautiful. I have a Blue Wheaten cockerel and one hen that are 13 wks. I wish I had known how pretty they would be and how much I like them as I would have ordered more.
