Ive always read that if you wait 3 weeks without the past rooster present, that ensures that all sperm are dead, and all offspring will be from the new rooster. Never hearer of there being an influence from a past rooster

How do we know she wasn't born with it? Did these reasearchers find the lovers of these women and match the DNA found in them with their lovers? If not, then no one can say for sure where it originated from.well ok, but, if it wasn't 'transmitted' from him to her, then how did it get into her body?
I do agree though it doesn't say anything about her being able to transmit it forward. I still found it to be an interesting article. Good discussion y'all, thanks for that
Guess I wasn't clear...I agree, it was transmitted or injected into her body, when I said transmitted, I was refering to being transmitted from her to her offspring... My oldest son was shot in the leg with a BB gun by my youngest son...he still carries the BB, but it is not in his DNA, and his children..if he ever has any...will not have a BB in their DNA....lol...that's kind of where I was thinking..well ok, but, if it wasn't 'transmitted' from him to her, then how did it get into her body?

not typical down pattern of anything I am familiar with... Closest in my experience would be mottled/split mottled but not a perfect match...Any idea what this purebred BBS Ameraucana chick will look like? Doesn't look like my blacks at all and not really like my blues. Dark blue? Splash? This is only my 2nd round of Ameraucanas so not sure what to expect.

Back before I started down this path of volunteerism for the ABC Club <g>, when I was just a newbie looking for answers (well, still am a newbie), I used to visit the gallery at our old website and cringe. The images were small, there was no way to compare a, say, wheaten hen to a blue wheaten hen without downloading the pictures and comparing them offline. As an application developer and website designer, the "mode of delivery" was terrible, bulky, and difficult to navigate. If you are feeling a bit investigatory, you can see how our website gallery used to look at the link provided in the post prior to this one.
So, when I had the opportunity to do so, one of the first things on my list was to change the way the gallery for the ABC Club functions, add new levels of pictures (various ages, "project" colors). We went through a couple of iterations before we stopped at where it is now, but I think you'll find easy to use and the pictures very visible. Of course, I'm always interested in your feedback. I'm also always looking for good quality images of the Ameraucanas - any variety, any sex, any age. So, please feel free to visit our gallery at http://www.ameraucana.org/gallery.html
There are a few pictures of Lavenders there and I'm hoping to add more of the Lavender, as well as other project varieties. If you'd like to submit a picture for the gallery, email them to me at [email protected]. Please understand that pictures may or may not be used as submitted, or at all. Credit for who's picture it was will not be given - no one will know that it is your bird in that picture except me and you - and I'll forget 10 minutes after I upload it. The image becomes the property of the ABC club and will be subject to our copyright protection, filed with the Library of Congress.
Hoping to see some great pictures of beautiful Ameraucanas flying around my in box soon.
