Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hi all ameraucana lovers. We are looking for blue wheaten hatching eggs. Please pm me with details. Thanks so much.

Those are Araucana charts which would be different than Ameraucana, which is the third chart.

The charts are all the same, for the British Araucana Club, ACA, ABC and Ameraucana Alliance. Frank Decmar, from the UK, created it originally for the British club. The only differences are the centers dedicated to each club and some have a flat finish and some gloss.

For Ameraucana and Araucana the eggs are *supposed* to be blue... that is the desired color and what is strived for and should be bred for if you want your birds more to SOP... however, greens and greenish/blues do happen (especially when some of the Lavender lines had Lavender Orpington bred in for feather color) so the charts are to be able to give others an accurate description of how blue or greenish your eggs might be... as it seems every person can look at the same egg and see a slightly different tint it helps to have a guideline to compare to... also, pics seen on a screen or taken in different lighting can alter the appearance of egg color drastically so it is good to have something tangible that has exact same colors for comparison...
The color charts are for reference only, and the creators even state that on the websites... hope this helps...

I've seen combs like that... mostly with the hatchery/feed store ones, but that happens sometimes when pea comb and single combs are bred together...

I was lucky enough to get 5 BBS Ameraucana chicks this spring. 2 are for sure cockerels, but I have my fingers crossed that these 3 are pullets. Thoughts? They are about 8 1/2 weeks - and crazy hard to get pictures of!

So far, looking like pullets... give them about 2 more weeks though... some of the boys don't pink/red up in their combs til about 10 weeks... but looks good so far!

Ugh. I just have awful luck getting pure ameraucanas. So far I might have one, but she's only 10 weeks, so I won't know until she lays.
