Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have a friend at work who has Ameraucanas, one Bantam rooster, Australorps, one Cochin and Wyandottes. Her husband also buys eggs to hatch so its a big mixed batch. Wasn't promised anything specific being that I bartered for the chickens and she gave me her hatches she had on hand. The black chick in the two following photos look a lot like Australorps and in another forum someone said it is most likely a cockerel.

NOT sure if this help identifying the chicks but here are some photos.

The blue or what i think looks more like a light grey in the farthest to the left, a beautiful dark grey and white 2nd from left, middle is a black and white speckled chick, buff or orange chick 2nd from the left and the last bird is a black chick. I have all together 9 chicks.

This is one of my three speckled chicks but this one is red/pink comb and red/pink waddles he is another that kicks and heads off the light grey chick and the black chick. I am guessing its a cockerel but I could be wrong.

Another angle on the dark grey chick dark colored comb no waddles that I can see and a black chick with no waddles and a black comb.

Speckled chick from 1st picture.

Another speckled chick.

Well, if he doesn't keep his breeds separate and just lets all the birds roam and breed together, you most likely have EE's. I'm not seeing anything in those pictures that says 100% ameraucana. Even so, you could still end up with some blue egg layers. The lavender colored ones looks like it may be a male with the red comb it has. Same with the bird in pic two.

Agreed... but I will add that I'm not too sure the light one is a lavender... looks like a very pale, washed out blue to me... faint lacing is visible, and lavender should not have that... Very pretty chicks, and they should give you a nice colored egg basket... :)

We were lucky enough to obtain a couple Ameraucana chicks recently, and they are absolutely adorable! Who can resist those beards and muffs? (It's all about the beards, in my opinion.)

Boo, Black Ameraucana.

Blue Ameraucana (unnamed thus far) with crossbeak.
