Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

The splash and black should make some very nice blues, and I'll bet that dark blue will throw a nice splash

I can't find too many pictures for some reason..but heres one hen! Lighting makes her face look purple, but i assure you its not. I'm hoping for a black too for another pen, I have a lavender I'd love to get a little further with.

Looking for some splash chicks to trade for silvers, blacks or lavenders. 5 or 10, then I can ship you your choice. I will have chciks in 30 days. I live in Northern CA. The closer the better if anyone lives near me.

Thanks

I am loving all these Ameraucana pics! One of my favorite breeds. :) Unfortunately we had to sell ours before we moved. Now that we are settled I can't wait to get some again. Can anyone help me find a place to order wheaten/blue wheaten chicks or eggs?

Update on my lovelies. They are so cute! I love them. What do you guys think of my founding chickens? I know there are some flaws in my boy, but I will use him to get the chocolate gene in my flock and he has a 66% chance of being split for the silkie feather type.

You just let me know when. I just ordered another octagon, so I will be hatching every couple of weeks. I've been talking to you a while, so I'll put you at the top of the list
Which one did you order and do you use the humidity pump? I am thinking I need to bite the bullet and upgrade since I had such horrible hatch rates last year.

Check out the breeders directory at www.ameraucana.org. Lots of great breeders.

You might want to check out my site, as well. sandcastlesfarm.com. I have wheaten and blue wheaten.

20 Advance. I have one, and 20 chicks at a time is perfect for me, I just need them more often. The pump would be nice, but for $140 I can add a little water every few days.
I tell anyone that is hatching more than just a few batches of chicks that the Brinsea is well worth the money. Ridiculously simple to use, no babysitting, and cleans up very easily after hatch. I work long hours and needed an incubator that I could set and walk away from, and this one you really can. I average over an 87% hatch rate of fertile eggs, and have hatched 100%
3 hatches will pay for the unit at $360 on Amazon

Oh my gosh! I love him! I think he's really pretty! The chocolate is very pretty! And he has a sharp eye!
