Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Susan, I may have asked you this before, but what incubator do you use? I think the Brinsea Octagons are phenomenal, but you don't hear much about their cabinets. When I start looking at that kind of money, the GQF becomes a strong contender

I have a GQF 1502 incubator and a Dickey's five tray hatcher..love them!

Hi, everybody!!! So, I've wanted Ameraucanas for a LONG TIME, and I've tried a few times to find someone local, but after last time, I think I'm gonna give up on that idea and try to find someone reliable on here. For those who are curious, the "Splash Ameraucana pullet" that I got, who I initially named Mona, now goes by Monty and is, in fact, a splash (that's the only thing that guy had right), but he is definitely NOT an accepted color, as there's blackish blue spots and tons of red leakage, and he has slightly feathered shanks....*sigh*
Anyways, that's why I'm on here. I was wondering who the most reliable people on here are for getting purebred, good quality (I would like to do some breeding myself) Ams. I would prefer some chicks, since I don't have a bator yet, but I was planning on getting one anyway, so I may just go ahead and get one and then order some hatching eggs. But yeah, I'm really just looking for some names of the most reliable people to order hatching eggs and/or chicks from. I plan on having B/B/S and BW/W/SW Ams eventually, although from everything I've heard, all the wheatens are a little harder to find....but anyone who knows of someone with any of the above varieties would be greatly appreciated. I know this is a little off-topic for the thread (not too much, I hope), but I figured who better to ask than all the people who have them, lol. Thanks in advance, everybody!!!

Here are the Ameraucana breeders in the US that are with either the Ameraucana Breeders Club or the Ameraucana Alliance. 2 different organizations that both aim toward breeding to the standard.
These will probably be your best bet on finding someone reliable.
Good luck!

Before Susan says ABC and John says Ameraucana Alliance, I'll recommend Paul Smith in Texas. I am a novice, and ordered my first chicks from him last year. They are BBS, and a couple were SQ. even the ones that aren't SQ are breeding beautiful chicks, and I feel confident that I have a solid foundation to begin breeding from. Paul is an extremely nice and helpful person, and only charges a couple dollars more for his chicks than I do mine.
As far as eggs, I recommend buying chicks. If you want a good, guaranteed start, go ahead and spend the extra money for the chicks. Shipped eggs are a gamble, so to me the I've chicks are worth the money

Or show them both at once :thumbsup

ETA: I'm on one of those lists, and I still recommend Paul

I've never had Ameraucanas before, but I'm picking up a dozen hatching eggs this weekend from a reputable breeder. I've been on her waiting list since last fall. So excited!!! I was also planning on setting some of my BLRW eggs. Should I do these in separate hatches or would they be okay together? Thanks for any help.
