Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Lavenders are called Ameraucanas, and hopefully, sooner rather than later, they will be accepted by the APA, under the description "Self-Blue" :) The ABC has petitioned the APA for acceptance into the Standard, the variety known as Lavenders. It was unanimously voted to approve our petition, by the APA Board, in January of this year.
Wonderful! Just a few months ago I was told that any variety not recognized was an EE, that made no sense to me.

Thank you for this, I couldn't understand why Lavenders were not called Ameraucanas.
They actually were Ameraucanas when we created them, it is just that there is a lot of false information out there. This is why I encourage those with an interest in Ameraucana chickens to join the Ameracuana Alliance and get the truth. We can mentor those with a will to learn. The club actually formed in 1978, before the name Ameraucana was coined and three of the eleven original charter members are still with us!
