Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hi there! This is my first time raising chicks, but I have a feeling that my almost 5-week old ameracauna pullet that I purchased from a feed store may actually be a He! She is about 1/3 larger than my other chicks and has shown some different behaviors, such S scratching at my hands when I reach into their brooder. Can any expert out there take a look?

Brittney,

It looks like a cockerel to me too. But it is and easter egger. Feed stores generally sell hatchery birds and there are only two that I know of that sell true ameraucanas.

Hello! Joining in to pass time while waiting for my eggs to hatch; purchased a dozen Wheaten Ams from @pasofinofarm ; at day 7, I have 4 developing and the rest all appear clear (I have a good candeler that worked well last hatch with my OE and FBCM) but giving till day 10 before I pull those out.

In the meantime, tick-tock, tick-tock. So ready for new babies!

Good luck with those four!
