I just looked back at the pictures of your blacks. The longer I have these birds, the more I'm noticing things I didn't before. That feathering is so tight! Really nice looking birds. My AMs have good feathering, but my new BCM are disappointing me a little. A few are good, most are decent, but a few are downright loose and sloppy looking. I'm so glad I'm doing Ameraucanas, because I'm starting to believe the 90% cull rate on BCM

Oh Nooooo! They are still young and can change!!!!

BCMs are incredibly tough! Very discouraging.

I'm really glad you have the lighter blues to compare. I'm so new to this, I just don't know exactly what direction I should be heading. I'm going to do some blue/blue breedings with these dark blues next year. I suspect that, like you said, the colors may be all over the map. That's why I want a good blue cockerel. I want to see what it takes to get some consistency in my colors, and what I can use in those offspring to improve other traits. That's why I'm so excited to be getting one of your cockerels. I think that new blood is going to be very beneficial since I'm breeding on such a small scale

Well...if I have an extra blue cockerel later this year, out of the eggs I've hatched, your people and my people can talk. Or, should that be, your peeps and my peeps?

There are some good ones in there, but some not so good, too. I have 4 cockerels, with two showing some promise. If I can get one good rooster, I can work with the girls. The good news is these are the sweetest birds I have ever had. I haven't had chickens this tame since I only had 4
