Are those Wheatens or Blue Wheatens?
How old is the one in your picture? Do you have any pictures of him younger? Mine are 3 weeks and a couple days old.
The one in the picture is 7 weeks old. I'll look around and see if I have a few pictures of younger cockerels. Around 3-4 weeks of age, wheaten boys will begin to feather in black (they are the easiest to decipher in groups of chicks), blue wheaten males will begin to feather in grayish blue, and splash males (if you are breeding for that color) will be white. The girls will feather in a golden brown color like you are seeing and you will be able to see their color variety in their wing tips and tails. Wheaten and blue wheaten males will start to look dark quickly.Hope that helps.
He is properly colored. The other chick looks different because it's younger.
Wow those are only about 3 weeks old!
