Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

And let Paul know about him so he can adjust his breeding program accordingly.

Ok, Thank you! I never know if you should say where they come from but I think it kind of helps to know they come from good stock. He does have beautiful birds. Out of the 34 that I got from Paul. This is the only one that showed leakage.

See, even the best of breeders are still working on things. He needs to know that the leakage popped up. He can't fix what he doesn't know about.

I will let him know. Thank you for your help! It is hard to cull when you are just learning. It makes it even Harder to cull when they are all so beautiful!!!

I tried to get pictures but not very good! This pen is in the shade most of the day.
Yes, that is leakage. You wouldn't want to breed that bird forward because he will pass the leakage on to his offspring.

It's best to breed birds with a nice uniform color throughout the bird. Hens can also have leakage but not "show it" which sometimes complicates the matter.

Lavender/self blues are also susceptible to sun bleaching. Congrats on your birds, and best wishes with them!

I checked all my lavenders toe punches. I have two roosters and one pullet from that pen. I will use the pullet as a olive egger and cull the two roosters. I will still have 3-4 roosters and 3-4 pullets. It was dark and I couldn't tell if the one was a rooster or hen!!! lol
