Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

thanks again. I appreciate everything. They all came from my son's school so no money out of pocket

I have slowly been going through my grow out pens, which means I've been taking lots of photos of chickens.

I'm fairly certain that I have as many photos of my chickens on my phone as I do of my kids......

I hope this doesn't mean I have a chicken problem...If so, the cure is probably....more chickens.

I wouldn't call it white, it's a faint yellow. But I'm new to this breed or whatever it's gonna be

Yeah, I remember when mine were young, I probably worried about that too but they are gorgeous now and look like they are supposed to. Regardless, he or she is a cutie pie!

They are about 6 weeks now.

Well, at six weeks I would think there would be just a bit more blue showing up there. I would give him a couple of more weeks and if he doesn't start filling in (there is always some areas that take longer) I would consider him a cull. I think someone on this forum had posted a pic of one that was off colored and it was from a well known breeder, so, it happens.

I think that chick is younger. Are you sure it's four to seven weeks? Maybe it's one of those late feathering ones. It is normal to see yellow to white down in that pattern on chicks, but by four weeks that is usually almost gone.

A beautiful blue and green mosquito hawk/dragonfly with one of my splash pullets in the background.
Aww...Louisiana summers! I don't miss the heat and humidity, but I sure miss the family gatherings and the food.
Yes indeed, it's a hot one today! No matter, we still gonna light up the grill today.
