Regarding the yellow bleeding on the neck--now I'm gonna have to go check mine out tomorrow. Since splash isn't a "standard", I wasn't worrying too much about it...I just think they're pretty. Now, I'm curious, though--I don't recall any yellow bleed, at least not that prominent. Mine are Cree Farm Ameraucanas, which are supposed to be Andalusian blue genetics, if that matters at all.

Of the eight chicks I purchased this spring I ended up with 3 cockerels and 5 pullets. I sold my only splash pullet at 9 weeks because someone on this thread says she was an "off" color. She had no "splash" at all, what-so-ever. I called her Blanca b/c she was all white. She didn't have much of beard either. I have two wheaton and two blue wheaton left. One of the wheatons is really dark. One of the B/W has no sign of a beard. The other 3 pullets have somewhat of a beard, but seem to be in the late beard development department! My Wheaton roo is on the small side compared to the other roos, but is very dark and has a really nice beard. One B/W roo is much larger than the other roos and slightly darker than the other B/W and his comb seems more correct. Out of all these I think I will keep the larger B/W roo and all but the skimpy beard B/W pullet. I am waiting for hubby to mow the lawn and then I will take some photos to see what you all think of my decision. BTW they are 11 to 12 weeks old. I have to cull soon b/c I currently have 11 roos (8 BLRWs too) in pens in my garage with the door up 60 feet from neighbors bedroom windows and so far they haven't complained...the neighbors that is!

E/E is extended black or true black... alot of black birds are based on the birchen gene with some other gene making the birchen black as well on a black bird... but it shows up on a blue or splash bird... sry i caint do beter than that... im still learning 2

I have 2 splash Ameraucanas that are 10 weeks old ~ I'm pretty sure I have 1 pullet & 1 cockerel.
