Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have a batch in the incubator right now. It's a test hatch, new incubator (Brinsea's New model, Ovation) and young cockerels. I have blue and Blacks, and blue wheaten/wheaten that will all be EE chicks since I haven't separated my groups yet.

OT: Which Ovation model? I picked up the Ovation 28 Adv. haven't used it yet... first set planned for March 3rd. Is it holding temps nicely? When are you due to hatch?

I have the Ovation 56 EX, fully automatic with built in humidity pump. I love the new design. The temp and humidity have stayed perfect so far. I haven't calibrated the digital temp and humidity to a wet and dry bulb thermometer like some people suggest. I didn't ever calibrate my Octagon though and always had great hatches in it. The built in humidity pump is so quiet compared to the external one I have on my Octagon Advance. And the built in turner is nice too. They really did a nice job of designing this one.

Hi everyone! So, my kids are finally old enough that I feel comfortable asking all of you for some critiques. My blue boy, Athos, is 7 months old now, and my blue wheaten pullet, Calliope is 6 months. I'd love to know what you think of them!

I can get better pictures if you need them, these are just a few I snapped while watching chicken TV this afternoon. Thanks in advance for any observations!

ETA: LOL, I just noticed my GLW, Elena managed to find her way into two of these pics!! She's a picture diva for sure!

UPDATE!! My blue boy FINALLY mated with one of my blue girls twice today!!! I'm so excited that I'll finally be able to hatch out my own BBS babies!!! I can't wait til the two week window is up so I know all the babies will belong to Athos so I can set some of those bad boys! Super eggciting!! On a similar note, how many eggs a week do your girls lay? I read somewhere that most only lay about 3-4 a week, but both of my girls are laying 6 a week!! I was very pleasantly surprised by that. I'm loving the Paul Smith birds!! Can't wait for more babies from these lovelies!!!

My Ams are laying again!!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Loving the blues in here and the contrast between the inside and outside of the greener shells.
