Hey guys, this usta be one of the, if not the, most popular threads on this site. Unfortunately they changed the algorithms and trying to be more like Facebook and not like a forum lost a lot of the dedicated members on this site. I too stopped visiting for several years. Wish they would go back to old algorithm but oh well

Thought I'd post a few pic of next year's birds to give this old thread a boost. First 2 pics of some LF whites. Next 3 pics are bantam whites I'll be breeding this spring. Hope everyone is doing well, ready for hatching season!

Your Whites are lovely! I'm almost done disinfecting my incubator. Next I have to clean out/reorganize the shed and get the brooder set up. First I need to make my final culling. I’m having anxiety. What if I choose the wrong ones? What if my gut is wrong!?!? My early culls were easy. Now I’m down to the nitty gritties.

I wish some of the old members would come back too. But BYC has changed and I’m sure they have moved on. The main
Ameraucana FB groups are alive and well though.

Well if you have the space it's always nice to keep extra instead of over culling! Throw some nice culls into your mixed layer pen if you have one and pull them out if your in a genetic bind!

Thank Alaskan! I was able to acquire some nice stock last year to get back into breeding! I need a nice lf white cock to help with my tail transitions. I have a blk hen to work with, she has a great back and tail but is on the small side. Do you have any ameraucanas?

Yes, I posted that guy on the AA and ABC FB groups. It was about his bleed through on his haunches. He’s a nice guy in all other aspects though. I absolutely do not have the space for any extras, especially the noisy males. My husband HATES the crowing so I keep my males to an absolute minimum. I’ll be making 3 more cuts in the next week and I’ll only be keeping 3 males over the breeding season.

Bantam wheaten

I picked up a pair last fall trying to start a small pin of wheatens. But cant say I have the space to breed them toward quality with all the other birds I have around here. Are there many ameraucana breeders up in Alaska?
