Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Nora is a chunky little hen with a great beard--she comes from Cree Farms stock, as does Snow, who is just now getting her feathers back at the end of her molt. Nora molted awhile back when she was raising chicks. Gypsy is from Cree on one side of the family. Didn't take pics of Gypsy's mom, Charlotte, because of her molt.

Only a couple more weeks still! Just think of how happy you'll be to get that first blue eggie!

It'll definitely be worth the wait.

Cyn, those are some very pretty blues.

Okay critique time again. I'd like some serious responses - So, I asked about my black cockerel last time, now here's a black pullet I'll be pairing with him this spring. I personally think she's quite the looker, but I'd like other people's input, as I feel I'm not the best at judging female Ameraucanas.

She's only 7 months old, (and her muffs are a little wet here) but so far the only thing I really question as a fault is her tail. Thoughts?

Snow is a splash and is half sister to Nora. Nora lays the bluest eggs of the bunch, followed by Snow, then Gypsy, then Charlotte. I miss Nora's eggs, though. She hasn't started back laying since raising chicks months ago, but her plumage is really nice. I think I could have shown Nora if I was inclined to do so--she really is a beauty.

I think she is a keeper. I love the beard and muffs. You just can't find Bantams with that (I wish you could!! LOL) I have a Bantam pullet (I only keep Bantams) with like the exact tail. I'll post a pic of her. She has been doing fairly well at show so I'm assuming that it can't be a bad thing! To date she has won Res. Grand Champion Bantam (4H Fair Doug Akers was judge) Ch. AOCCL (Doug Akers judge) Res. AOCCL (White River Poutry Jr. Show), BV, RV, BB. She is only 10 months old so she is still young and could fill out a bit more.

this isn't the picture I wanted to show you but I can't get it to upload. Here is a picture of her right around May-ish

I just picked up this pair from the auction at the Ventura Poultry show this weekend. Honestly I am not sure what lines they come from, but I am going to try to find out. I just think they are so beautiful. I have some Easter Eggers, but they just don't compare to these. My female has not laid and egg yet so I don't know what the egg color is.

Amazing beard and muffs on the two! Especially the hen.

The only thing I don't like is the tail base on the male. It just suddenly erupts with a tail at a sharp angle.

I'm assuming they're still young though.

Greencastle: There's a lot that bantams offer and LF's don't.

But I'm really not a bantam fan at all.

regardless I still think your pullet is nice.... I personally like that tail set. I was just saying I had a pullet but a bantam with similar tail and she has been doing great at shows. I have a wheaten pullet with similar tail as well. I'm going to post pics of a bunch of my birds tomorrow for critique.
