Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Good to know! I thought it was maybe a little too large. His was one of the biggest combs of the whole bunch (out of 5 roos). Course he's bigger in general.

Thanks for the good wishes Henry! They've been super sweet so far. I just worry about 1 neighbor in particular. I do let them out later on the weekends so my neighbors can sleep in a bit.

Just another opinion ! I Prefer # ! because of his looks specifically his back looks better proportioned than the second. But then it may be the pictures also. (Oh how I would love to add a half dozen beautiful black/green Ameraucans to my flock!)

His is better proportioned but he looked a little scraggly until just recently. Those pics are about 3 weeks old and he is looking much more handsome now, He is really filling out and his feathers are so gorgeous! I plan to hang on to them both for a while. #2 may fill out a lot more yet. Ameraucanas are so slow to mature I feel like I should wait a bit longer to see. Yes? Or am I just procrastinating?

Oh well sometimes it does pay to wait, call it what you may ! I have found that with my multi-breed flock the birds are changing constantly. None of them are over seven months and I am sure that this is normal in slow to mature breeds. Heck some of my hens, still have pink combs and wattles. The cocks, well I only have two of them at this stage and I am thankful that they are pretty nice even if the hens are protesting loudly ! This is fun, I love my flock but I do not have my Ameraucans yet !!!!! boo hoo ! I am still learning !

I hatched out 2 roos from nice blue eggs one is blue with nice lacing and the other is black looks like a birchen pattern but he is supposed to be just black I don't need either one I have no hens for them

Are you positive ? Sound as if they would be good for the blue eggs gene ? Would you be able to post pictures of these birds ? How old are they ?

I think June hatch they are not crowing I can try and get pictures but they get pushed around by the other ones. I really like the blue one he's very pretty I was so hoping the black was a girl but the color coming in ruined it and now he's getting those pointy feathers in the rear and his comb is turning more red....I'm going to try and hatch some blue wheatons I think those are very beautiful I just want a trio or quad
