Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Anyone else with lavs get a roo whose comb looks like a hershey's kiss? I have no idea what happened with one of my guys- it was looking like a normal pea comb and then all of a sudden it's a blob.
I guess I'll get some lav EEs after all. (I know Holly is going to give me one of those orps! hint hint) That's why it's always good to have a back-up roo. Or two

I don't have pictures yet, but I have 5 Blue Ameraucana chicks, 5 weeks old and each one is a different shade of blue. They range from very light to very dark. Is that normal?

Does anyone have picture of the brown red variety that they could post for me to see. I might be interested in purchasing some chicks or eggs a little later say aroud spring time.

Thanks.

I didn't get one with a comb like that, but I did get one with a single comb. I just can't tell if it is a rooster or a pullet

Oh that's so cute! I'm thinking boy. What a bright happy little chicken face though! I was told to expect the single comb to pop up occasionally- all part of being project birds.

I'm thinking rooster too! He does have the cutest personality!! When I saw it had a single comb, I was hoping for a pullet so I could keep this one and put it in with my EEs. I already have a Wheaten Ameraucana rooster chick that developed curled toes that is going in with my EE girls, so I guess I'll have to find this cute Lavender guy a new home

I just got some chicks from a local feed store that were ordered through Ideal. 3 were termed Ameraucana. I checked on Ideal's website, and in their description of their Ameraucana breed, it says something like 'also called an Easter Egger'. So, should I assume they are EE and not a straight Ameraucana?
