Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

It's a new twist on the "there's always some chicken pooping" in the background; Jeans birds are just a bit more creative than the rest of ours.

I had this one totally bald barred rock that would just have to show up in all my pics.

pips&peeps :

He just got "done" with her and she didn't move out of the way when I sat down to take the picture.

Wow Jean, then you must have some, umm, creative, err, birds. . . Because he must have "done" her backwards.

. . . I mean sheesh, he's smashing in her neck, almost her face, like he's dissing on her or something.

Yes, I find it funny though when someone has the random bird pooping in the photo. Once found a photo of some beautiful Black Copper Marans, and what do ya know? One of the hens is pointing her vent straight at the camera, and wow is it graphic. . .

Hello I am new to this thread. I have 5 blue and 2 splash LF. I think 2 of the blues are roos. I hatched hem out Jul 21, 2010. I have read that they will start laying about 5 to 7 months. They still seem to be to small but my other chicken are Sussex and Orpingtons.

Hi ByNature:frow We are almost neighbors. I'm up near Hiawatha, KS. I'm still in the process of waiting for my ameraucana chicks. They won't be here till march, so it's going to be a long wait. I'm getting lavender, black and silver. I'm sure if you posted pictures the folks here could tell you if your birds are pullets or "the other kind."

The birds I got from Peachick 10 days ago are healthy & thriving, but they did have to do a duck and cover today (grateful I had a place for them to run to) when a hawk was looking at them for dinner. He did attack a freerange EE roo I have and the EE roo got away with his life... a bit bloodied but still alive and well.

The Splash Wheaten roo is just so pretty I've got to get some pics of him. Most splash roos have whitish tales this one's is almost lavender. real pretty.

I've got some girls from my great blue wheaten hatch in April that are laying now and a couple of them are laying VERY blue eggs.

I'm going to have to start saving and incubating them. I think I've pinpointed the two that are laying them and they are both wheaten, but they have the BW roo over them so I have hope for some BW offspring that lay that blue.

2 weeks and I should have some new chicks to grow out and look over to see if they are keepers!

gallorojo - He looks nice. A little beat up, but nice.

ByNatureFarms - It would help to show more than just a comb, but so far I agree with you.
