Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

All the things I highlighted are signs they're Easter Eggers. To get true Ameraucanas you'd need to search for them in particular and weed out all the Easter Egger "breeders" out there.

Signs of an Easter Egger are green legs, green, brown, or white eggs, a comb other than a pea comb, and an unrecognized plumage coloring. Having a beard and muffs doesn't mean anything though.

If your birds don't look EXACTLY or just a smidgen away from the following colors, they're Easter Eggers.

Silver, White, Black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Wheaten, Buff, Splash, Lavender, Brown-Red.

Silver is silver duckwing, you can look it up. Buff is SOLID golden color, no white or black. Brown-Red is solid black with red neck.

Also to add, your avatar is of an Easter Egger. He's an unrecognized color. (he's a cross of white and gold duckwing. Ameraucanas do not come in that color, but Easter Eggers commonly have the color your rooster has)

I have been blessed with 2 eggs so far from I am assuming 1 of my 27 week old hens. They are turqouis. Will they get bluer? From the same hen as she gets older? By season?

In some cases, yes, they will get bluer. In most cases, if they have not changed in 3 days they won't change at all. As the season continues, they will get paler, but not bluer.

Congrats! But, wow, none of my Ameraucanas laid so late. Oh I take that back - My buff pullet from Pips&peeps STILL hasn't laid anything. Jean, how old IS she?

I knew I picked out the wrong ONE... darn bunch of free loading eye candy all the other ladies even the younger one's are all laying.Only my halo lady is laying but she's a lot older for the wheatens..I can't get Levi chicks without some help from them.

I know! The wheaten girl that Janelle got out of that batch has yet to lay too. I have 5 month olds cranking out the eggs though. Need to get rid of these black roos so I can hatch some wheaties!!!!

I would say she is 7-9 months old. My buff gals are starting to lay again, most of them are pullet eggs though. Let me know if you want some of those......
