Well, I'm not interested in selling, showing or anything other than just enjoying my chickens. They are fun to have around especially when I look out and see four of them taking a dirt bath in the same hole!

Anyway, you guys have answered my question so I'm just going to raise some more offspring from him and the Red Stars because my current Red Star hens are on the downside of laying and I want to replace my laying stock . . . so why not experiment?

More egg pictures...
These two pictures were taken the same day minutes apart.
Overcast day. The center egg was the first egg laid by my one split lavender.

The same hen 1 month later on a bright sunny day

I didn't have a chance to take a good picture of the eggs the third down in the 2nd row of Ameraucana is closest to what the eggs look like. They come out looking absouluty horrible this is an example of why you can't photograph blue eggs inside they look green and much worse then they actually are.

Even outside the coloration can be a little off. I think I like my photo on the overcast day better, now that I see them side by side. The bright day one has some yellow in it, I can see it in the concrete....the concrete is suppose to be grey. I guess the best bet is to always use some reference eggs so you can see the contrast.

The wellsummer eggs are much darker I just realized there is actually flash on this picture at the end of the week I will take some pics outside.

I live in Utah and am really interested in getting a few Ameraucana pullets this spring, one to keep and the rest to sell after they grow a bit. (We can only have 6 hens and I already have 4 and want a Marans too). Any tips on where I can find a breeder close?
