Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I don't know of anyone in Utah but there is pasofino in texas and Paul Smith in texas. If you want true ameraucana chicks it will be really hard to find a breeder who sells sexed chicks almost all only sell straight run chicks. You might be able to find more expensive older pullets though.

Good luck,
Henry

You can go to the Ameraucana Breeders Club website. They have a list of breeders. There are 2 in Arizona and 1 in Colorado that sell started stock. You can check them out here http://www.ameraucana.org/DnLd/BreedersDirectory.pdf. I don't know where you live in Utah but I only checked for Nevada, CO and Arizona (my luck there's nobody in Nevada). You can check the site for any others you may be closer to. I've not ordered from anybody on the list except John Blehm (president of the club) but he only sells straight run chicks. I will be getting 7 of his birds in spring (actually 50 but the rest of them are already spoken for).

One of my bantam Ameraucanas (who is SEVEN months old by the way) laid her first 2, yes 2, eggs about a month ago, and then said, "Eh, I don't really feel like doing this anymore". And hasn't laid since. Patience, my friend, patience...

I had a bantam ameraucana do the same thing.

That is so good to hear! I haven't ordered from him before. I'm so excited about them and my family doesn't get it so I have to go on BYC to gush. I can hardly wait 'til spring!

Are you getting standards or bantams? I have his black bantams. Post #317 of this thread shows pics of them, I have since ditched the lavender project...need more room for the blacks...I really need to get better pics of them!

What were you emailing for? Were you emailing a breeder to locate chicks, or emailing for other information?

Did you see the link to the forum? You can ask questions there, or even post that you're looking for chicks or eggs.
