Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

pips&peeps :

The funny thing is, if people had patience, they could buy a box of chicks from me for those prices........................

ETA: or, a number of breeders I know.

Believe me Jean since I got LF I've been waiting for your chick sales!

We can at least say it's stimulus $$$$.

The auctions are outrageous right now... all I have to say is, if you're a potential buyer don't be blinded by all the pretty colors and be sure to read every seller's feedback comments thoroughly.

Yup!

VERY true. I have an order coming from Paul Smith at the end of March, 10 W/BW/SW Ameraucana chicks and 5 RIR live bouncing fluffies, for only $125!

I must be colorblind. I have a lav pullet out there giving me ugly little eggs with gorgeous little chicks in them so I'll just have deal with it for a while. This one is hers.....

I have a question on Egg color. I was told that True Ameraucanas will only lay Blue Eggs. Different hues of Blue, but Blue nonetheless. I just had someone email me telling me they can also lay Green. I've also seen where people have some for sale stating they will lay Blue, Green, and Pink Eggs. Is this true or do Ameraucanas only lay Blue?

That's why lavs are still a work in progress. There are still many faults with them but we'll get there. If you are going to keep her you will need to cover her with a blue egg roo to improve the future generations egg color.

and look how pretty those bottom eggs are!
