I am trying a few OEs of my own too but have eggs ordered from Wynette also. My problem is I don't know who my OE out of the first batch is........LOL. I had 5 nice big colorful EEs hatch that I gave to my cousin but had to tell her "I may be an Indian Giver" if one of them lays a kahki colored or olive green egg I want her back.....LOL All the other chicks look like BCMs. I can't tell any difference at 2 weeks. I see some rusty brown coming in on the lower wings of 2. When I first saw that on the first one showing it I thought "Aha" this must be it..... Now I see that color an another chick too. So I guess I will just have to wait til they grow out....LOL

I started with EEs that came from eggs I hatched from a very nice local lady that thought she had Ameraucanas. Some of the feed stores & hatcheries call them that when they are bought as chicks. Mine were delightful. The rooster is a beautiful Duck wing type & the pullets were all so different & they lay a beautiful large blue egg...............all of mine laid a blue egg, no green, no pink, no brown. Each pullet had her own color going on & could be easily distinquished from the others. The true Ameraucanas are more standardized & will breed true. All the hatching eggs I have received so far for really nice Ameraucanas have been smaller & greener or grayer than my EEs were. It just depends on what you want & where your goals are. I started out wanting a basket of big colorful eggs & slowly decided I wanted to raise "purebred" nice bird sthat laid pretty eggs. I have kept a handful of the second generation (F2?) EEs just for those beautiful eggs.
Hope this helps

Well I can't help you... I only know what the adults look like. Wynette is who I'll try first, also.

I've got tons of F2 OE chicks and eggs. If you get up this way.... I do go to Rome occasionally, but had put that on hold because of Libya.
