That is all great! I PMed CRYSTALCREEK yesterday about Lav hatching eggs... I think that most Lav breeders on here have the nice color, but I want eggs from someone who specifically says that they are projects.

I think it is a given that they are all projects since they are not an accepted color.

Not necessarily... This is what Illia says. Just because the color isn't yet accepted doesn't mean that the sellers are working on the color quality, does it? Even if they have nice stock.

Well, long day today. I must say, getting rid of a flock of Ameraucanas is easy. This must truly be Ameraucana year. . . Wheaten/Blue Wheaten eggs are selling like they lay golden eggs, Lavender Ameraucanas are selling like they are made of gold, and even my adult BBS birds went in just one day's worth of saying they're for sale. Well, still have a few hens left, but most of the people asking are too far away or want to breed them (my last hens left are pet quality, not breeding quality) so. . . I'm sure someone else will speak up soon.

But on the bright side, my Wheaten and Blue Wheaten girls are laying, and my originally submissive and shy Buff pullet from Pips&peeps is now head honcho here. She's even tried picking a fight with our recent addition of a couple HUGE Sussex hens. (I've never seen a hen so big in my life. . . they're enormous. . .)



Technically all Lavenders are projects also because they are an unaccepted color, PepsNick

My saying there was mainly pointing to the difference in people auctioning "project" Lavenders versus Lavenders. (although of course plenty of those "non-projects" SHOULD be projects. . .

Yes, everytime I see Lavender birds..I just start drooling!!

Yesterday I noticed something. I had let my Buffs out to free range and I had just given them some scraps and my Lavender guineas came over there and the color Lavender and Buff look great together!! That makes me want Lavender Orpingtons...

I'm planning on hatching a dozen Blue/Lavender Orp eggs from bargain. There are a lot of people on here doing projects with them, though I'm not sure if they all are still. However, I am only using them for egg production. I plan on the Orps being my main laying flock.
