Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Big problem the standard calls for blue or blue green eggs if the bird doesn't lay colored eggs its not a real ameraucana but an EE. I defently think you shouldn't get them if you want ameraucana get some from a well known breeder.

thank you for your response my question has been answered

ive never heard of this but than again im no expert lol... i would breed him back to his mom or sisters and see if you could get him to breed true... if you want another breeding project try to start a Mottled Americana color... if you dont want to try to sell him to some one that does... he could be worth some money... he looks like a pretty nice bird IMO lol

From what has been posted he is not a true mottle. But I love the color, and will definately be breeding him to his two black sisters, as well as my other egg layers. I can't wait to see the colors that come out of that breeding pen!

You guys knew I couldn't stay away for to long ha ha. I just set 8 big blue ameraucana eggs. I know I said I was selling my flock but my idea is I will raise one or two LF ameraucana pullets with the faverolles and they will learn to live together. Then I can still have some huge blue eggs

I don't even know if they will hatch anyway just thought I would try my luck incubating. So in went 8 ameraucana 5 faverolles and 1 wellsummer egg. I will set anything else thats laid today. Hope I hatch 1 or 2 ameraucana pullets and lot of faverolles

These girlies have eggs inside of them. Hopefully they won't stop as soon as they get to your place because of the transition. I am getting 5 or 6 eggs a day. Just looked again only set 6 not 8.

Well hopefully they hatch and the birds continue to lay. He is certainly trying his best to fertilize them I just walked through the yard while they are free ranging and well what can I say he is trying.
