Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I do realize most breeders only sell straight run, but I cannot have a roo. I am indeed willing to pay more for the pullets, however.

Yep- we all had to go through the buying hatching eggs or straight run chicks and rehoming extra roos. It's just one of those things you have to deal with when you don't go "hatchery". My roos don't crow until they are almost 5 months- I've never had to hold onto a roo I didn't want that long. Plus it's sooo much fun having wheaten babies! They are adoreable.

I'd like to Thank Clover,Dipsy, and Jlgoinggreen for your kind thoughts and trying to help me out. I appreciate it more than you know. I have a lead on a roo from Craigslist of all places. I thought BYC would have been my savior. Thanks again!!!

Have you told the Washingtonians thread? Or mentioned it in the upcoming Poultry Swap?

Finally! My ameraucana ship order is chicked.... I mean my ship have been chipped... I mean my chicks have been shipped.

Calm down, Susie. Don't get so excited.

I've been following along on this thread for months, posting a little here and there, and it looks like my chicks may be here tomorrow. The email said they had been shipped yesterday, so I assume they will be here in the morning. Surely it doesn't take longer than that to ship chicks.

Okay... say that ten times in a row very fast.... ship chicks ship chicks ship chicks....

I start sounding like a chicken myself!

Tentatively I will be getting black, silver, wheaten, one buff packing peanut and ONE LAVENDER!

Are your Ameraucanas laying? I really wish mine would? I think the weather is getting them too. This morning when I went to the doctor it was 31* and snowing really hard. now its about 60* and sunny??? would this have an effect on their laying? I feed the scrabbled eggs and egg shells every other day? to get some beard growth going and to help with the egg laying? I'm so tired of egg-less chickens!!!!!!
