Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thanks guys!

I'm also VERY excited to report that this afternoon I'm going to pick up 3, possibly 4 W/BW 4-5 week old chicks that were hatched from Luanne's line by another BYCer here in the Bay Area!

Nice! I'm still waiting for Holly's Levi to get his act together so I can raid her wheaten brooder

Any opinions on gender? 2 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas hatched 3/9, making them 4 weeks old today.
They both seem pretty similar in size and comb development, both with small combs developing, still yellow. They are both calm, one is very interested in me and will fly to the top of their feeder when I go near them to get closer. It is super cute. I have a feeling they may both be girls but that is a total guess. By what age can you general sex this breed? Also curious, can you tell by their feathers which will be blue and which will be wheaten? One has dark (almost black) on her feathers, the other is almost all wheat (pale).

Thanks so much! I’ve posted to the general breed/gender thread but no replies yet.

In Silicon Valley with 8 chicks! 2 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas, 2 Mottled Javas, 2 Blue Birchen Marans, 1 Barred Plymouth Rock and 1 Easter Egger. We can only keep hens and are trying to figure out which of the bunch are girls so we know who we have to re-home, only able to keep a max of 5 hens.

I agree, they both look like little girls to me.

I just brought home 3 Wheaten pullets myself, all from Luanne's line. I'm REALLY excited about these girls. They are already very pretty, I'll try to take some pictures before the go to the outdoor brooder this evening.

I'm going to be ordering Bantam Ameraucana to arrive in a month or so. Where can I find a good site to compare my birds to (once older) to see how they compare to the standard. The breeder's birds are very nice looking, and I've read alot of good things about their birds, but the breeder does not show.
