Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

There are some absolutely fantastic looking BYC Ameraucanas on this thread. Best wishes to everyone for their 2010 plans!
Anyone can get hatch eggs and sell from them as soon as they start laying, but you can't go wrong with a member of a breed club..
(ok..there have been a few exceptions, but mostly you can't go wrong) When you have breeders(and there are many on here) who weigh in and advise others it shows their integrity, commitment, and love for the breed. Thank you all for the support, we are better for it, the birds are better, and hopefully the breed is stronger for it.

here they are finally my trio of bantam ameraucanas i think they are very nice looking and i have a pq lav cockerel and another nice crooked beak hen but im not putting their pictures up

Awww! They are so cute!!!!! I've always wanted bantam Ameraucanas. I hope to own some one day. I've been wanting some for years. Are they standing on your car in the garage in this pic? LOL!!!! Reminds me of my black Ameraucana roo, Miles. When he free ranges he always goes to the garage to roost for the night. I know I can always find him on a piece of hubby's equipment or a rim of a bike when looking for him to tuck away in the coop for bedtime. Poor fella still thinks he lives in the garage and will be 2 yrs old this spring. LOL!!!!! He was kicked out of the garage ages ago.

Who's got wheaten, blue wheaten LF ameraucanas on BYC that sells eggs??? I thought I had a source locally but his group of birds is older and production is wayyy down. I just need a few eggs 4-6 at a time, I just want pullets for pretty eggs. I think they're a gorgeous breed...

I'm sorry you have to down size your flock, but at least you know they went to a good home and can see pic of them here on BYC. Congratulations FLF!!!! I need to down size some of my reg layers to make room for more Ameraucanas. Actually I just need to add the breeder's coop I've been dreaming of for years. LOL!!!!

Sending warm thoughts your way!!!!! I woke up to single digits this morning, but think it's warmed to a big whopping 14 degrees. What color are you hatching?

Thanks for the warm thoughts everyone. I ordered LF wheaten/blue wheaten and white ameraucanas....I already have Lavender, Split lavender and wheaten. You can check them out on my BYC page called Lav Shack. Back to chanting...please don't freeze...please don't freeze...

walkswithdog - I know Shelleyb1969 has a pair of LF wheaten/blue wheatens that she's just starting to breed; they're gorgeous!

Thanks Wynette! I'll email her. I just love wheaten/blue wheaten... sigh. And those blue eggs - big grin...

I want them in Marans too. Someday... I've had little luck with hatching marans eggs - I swear they're a Murphy's Law Magnet. Neither time the fault of the breeder, grrr.

If mine would start to lay I would be thrilled. The ladies are sure taking their time. I wasn't really sure about this breed at first, but my GSD's wanted blue egg layers so i bought some.
I think they are really interesting chickens with their muffs and beards and all the colors are beautiful. My favorite however is the Splash girl.
I have a blue Roo but he I think he is small for his age. Has anyone else had roos that were smaller than the pullets? Aren't roos supposed to be bigger?
