Beautiful bird! I have a question though. I have a half leghorn half lavender americauna. He's looking like he'll be leghorn white, but is getting green legs. Was your boy lavender from the fluff stage?

Yes- lav from day one. Your roo is probably "split" so if you breed him to other splits or lavs you can get more. It'll be really hard to get rid of the green (from the leghorn yellow) legs though.

Aww shucks, I was hoping for a lavender, although maybe it will end up a 'she' yet and lay me green eggs. I just have a feeling it's a he!

I have two chicks which are 2 1/2 weeks old that are the product of lavender splits. They are beautiful chicks, and I love their temperaments (they are my favorites). My concern is that one has developed green legs, the other has black/slate on the top half of its shanks, and green on the bottom half, they didn't look green when they hatched. These two are nice big bodied, with the best muffs/beards of any I have hatched so far this year. Should I use them for breeding (I am sure one is a roo, I think the other is a pullet)? Also is one a blue and the other lavender, or just 2 shades of blue, I have never seen a lavender in person, I am not sure how to tell. I didn't know they were from crosses of lav splits when I bought the eggs, so I am still trying to figure out what I have. I guess it is a bit early to decide, but how serious is the green leg issue? How hard is it to get rid of? These are so nice I would like some more lav splits, but am worried about what it will do to my breeding program. Thanks for any advice.
