I have been reading and enjoying everyone's pictures of their Ameraucana's, I just love them to pieces! I posted on my newbie post that I had 2 ameraucana pullets both are suppose to be hens and would some one kindly tell me if they are or are not ameraucanas, either way I will dearly love them and all their antics.

My pullets: Hawkeye & Buckeye; both are 1 month old, flighty, nervous and don't like human contact plus extremely good flyers

History: We went up to our Trade Day, there was a lady selling ameraucana hen pullets, she showed a picture of a full grown hen & roo and pictures of a cartoon full of pale blue/green eggs, she claimed that she got them from another place and that they were ameraucana's, she also said they were fun, friendly and docile. Another lady who wanted to buy them had tons of questions for her too and she claimed to breed only ameraucana's and showed us an information sheet on them, so anyway she named her price and I thought no matter what they are gorgeous hens and would be wonderful in my flock, the other lady told me she was selling them at a great price that she almost bought from another lady and she was selling triple the price, so we along with this lady bought her pullets, I only went with 2 pullets

Sorry my post is so long, I wanted to include as much detail as possible, I couldn't get a good clear face shot of the girls, they do have tuffs of feathers on the sides of their heads and under their chin, they also sport slate legs. I guess I wanted a second opinion on my new babes and find out if they are true ameraucanas and if they are what colour would they fall under.

Thank you all for your time and patience:)

pips&peeps: thank you, the more I read I think I understand now, it is like playing Spot the Difference, I was going to compile a list of information for this lady, she sells these as true ameraucanas, she even has the name spelled right, so if they are not true then she needs to know it and if she knows that they are not true then she needs to stop selling/pricing them as true.

So we are off to be with our fellow EE members:)

Thank you again

I have made a step in getting some Ameraucanas. Last night I ordered the Hovabator Genesis!

I want to hatch some awesome eggs.
I sure hope they will send it to me. I had one company respond that they only ship in the US. I just had to let them know that when they look at the flag and see those 50 stars...Hawaii happens to be one of them. The 50th one to be exact. lol. Ok I was not that sassy when I responded. But that is what I felt like saying. Sigh...Hawaii is America's step child.

dak: I would love to have true ameraucanas but DH wants me to wait until we get the backyard redesigned and coop established before adding any more chickens but I have been mighty tempted, they are so pretty! Everyone here has gorgeous birds!

engass: that is what the lady told us, I told my DH I thought they were older but I am still new to all this, now I wonder about this lady, if you are going to bred and sell it is good practice to know what you have and know what you are talking about.

how old do you think they may be or is that impossible to tell a true age?

Maybe more like 3-4 months? Just guessing. Hard to tell and I'm no expert...
ETA: Nice looking birds though. I have a few f2 Olive Eggers I hatched that come from Wellie Roo x OE and that are almost 4 weeks old now. I think they are going to look something like yours. I hope so!
