Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I've learned to just give them links .... http://www.ameraucana.org/faq.html#TWO and http://www.ameraucana.org/history.html are good ones. Then they don't have to get mad at me.

I tried to download the breeders list and my computer is being stupid! (I just downloaded Internet Explorer 9 a week ago, and I HATE it!)
Can someone download it and copy and paste and email it to me? Pretty please!

Rose Konold(Mason Creek) had the brown reds...I hatched 2 roos(2008) that were beautiful, but I didn't have any girls

. I checked her website but it doesn't seem she has them anymore...not sure who she sold her brown reds to....

the downside to the club link is plenty of people come and say "hey, mine looks like that" , especially the silver because of the chipmunk type pattern.......

Thus, I refer them specifically to the pages I referrenced which aren't confusing about breed standards. (Assuming they can read, of course!)

Green legs, for example, don't make it. Most EEs masquerading as Ameraucanas and even a lot of what came from true Ameraucanas end up with green legs which effectively makes it clear - NOT Ameraucana. And if the green legs don't convince them, the fact that the person who sold them the birds didn't tell them what color they were purchasing should seal the deal.

(I too had to learn this lesson the hard way ....)

I actually had an order to a hatchery for my "ameraucana" in 2008....til Jean schooled me

. Luckily the hatchery was going to change the date and I told them it wouldn't work...I just make my own ee's now...my dominant free range roo is one of the originals I hatched from Jean, had a wheaten and blue wheaten. I felt bad for the blue one as his wheaten brother would knock him off every time he tried to get some play with the girls. Had another BYC'er that loved my gorgeous wheaten so I gave him to her and his little bro became head honcho...

Hi! I think, sometimes, it is a matter of 'chicken priorities'. My best pal pens her hatchery-Americana and crosses seperately from Ameraucana--- but calls anything that lays a blue/green egg an Americana. Years of telling her the difference in 'breeds' just won't sink in, because it isn't significant to her --- in her mind, they are the same.

I have been going to the same feed store, talking to the same girl for 3 years now...told her about true ameraucana etc,,,,she still looks at me funny when I say REAL(or true) ameraucana, she doesnt' get the difference so I really don't bother any more....she doesn't have any so it doesn't matter to her. I agree, it's all perspective..
